February 20, 2008

I sat outside for two hours last Wednesday and took pictures of the lunar eclipse. It was really interesting to see because I don't think I have ever actually sat through one of those in its entirety. I got several really good shots so of course I had to post them here.

Rhiannon said something funny this week. She told me that when she grows up she will give her babies treats (chocolate) before breakfast, before lunch, and before dinner if they want because she will be a good mom! I asked her if I was a bad mom because I didn't do that and she said that I wasn't, just all the other moms. Hmmm....... I caught her reading to Brad one night when they were way past bed time. Brad was sitting up in his crib and she was reading to him from a pile of books in her bed. She is such a great big sister to him, almost motherly.

Brad has been saying "more" both verbally and by signing it. He says it when he wants to eat even though I have been trying to teach him how to say and sign "eat". He has also been saying "hi" a lot. It seems like this week he has changed a lot, although it is hard to point out too many specific things. He is able to sit in the bath now without the seat that suctions to the tub, which is good because the seat never stayed stuck anyway, and he always tipped over. There is also a McDonalds commercial that has just the right beat and song and he goes crazy dancing to it whenever it comes on. Dr. Phil's theme song is another favorite of his to dance to. One other big thing we noticed this week is that Brad will sit and "read" his books but now he brings them to us and points to things that he knows, especially the picture of the cat.

Happy Valentine's Day 2008

I am calling this post "Cell Phone Camera Shots". Recently, I was cleaning out the cell phone in anticipation of purchasing a new one, and I loaded all of the photos into our computer. There were quite a few in there and I found some real gems from way back in Delaware too. These are the pictures you get when an opportunity presents itself and you are no where near your camera. Hope you enjoy them.

Danielle & Jim, 5 Year Anniversary

So most of you know that Friday was our 5th anniversary. We had a great night out without the kids. We went for a couple's massage and then dinner at the Bonefish Grill, a great semi-fancy seafood restaurant in Panama City. I had such a great time that it made me realize I need to get over my fear of babysitters and the kids not functioning without me and get out more often with Jim! I think it's more of me not functioning without them!! But I am working on it.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of Rhiannon and Brad and their friends at the park. We usually go to this park on Wednesdays and they play and get absolutely filthy before we meet Jim for lunch. Friday, I finally broke down and got Brad his first haircut. My friend Rachel was kind enough to cut it for me with the assistance of my other friend Sara and poor Brad was not a happy customer. I have some before and after shots in here as well. His hair was longer than I realized and I have been feeling like a neglectful parent for not having it cut sooner. His beautiful soft baby hair now resides in a plastic baggie forevermore with his name and the date it was cut (because I am such a sappy sentimental person).

Our New TV - Bought solely for the purpose of the Super Bowl

We were so excited for the Super Bowl and we are still in mourning over it. Anyway, here are a few pictures from the big day. I made the kids shirts, we got all tattooed and Jim even bought victory champagne which remains undrunk in the fridge. But fret not, as we will probably drink it for our 5 year anniversary this Friday. Five long years gone by in a blink it seems! And we aren't sick of each other yet. Go us!

About halfway through the game Rhiannon took off her custom made shirt for an ever preferable dress. We joked with her that she was jinxing the team and to put it back on but she refused of course. At the end of the game, it was joked that they lost because she took off her rally shirt and she must have heard something about it. Well, it was so late and she was so tired that she totally took it to heart. She said to Jim, "Daddy, did the Patriots lose because I took off my shirt?" It was so sweet and she clearly felt like it was her fault. Jim assured her that she wasn't to blame but we all had a quiet snicker at that remark.

What else is new this week? Well, I finally got a hair cut and it looks really cute. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures yet. Brad is slotted for his first hair cut this week as well and I am incredibly nervous about it. Rhiannon informed me that your food turns into poop and comes out of your butt, and she also expressed some concern for the pain of childbirth (don't ask me how she knows it hurts). She told me that babies can come out of your belly or your butt and that she didn't think she wanted to do that because it was going to hurt a lot.

Brad is on a path of destruction. Anything and everything he can get into, he does. He loves to pull the cup holders out of the couch console and has a favorite pizza pan he always pulls out of the cabinet and bangs around the house. Just this morning he took apart a picture frame and ripped the cover off the diaper wipes and proceeded to dump them all over the floor. And by rip, I mean he actually separated the seam holding the cover on. He is all about dancing and clapping, but he also loves to scream like a girl now. He screams to express his delight and loves to be chased and tickled. He growls in frustration and when we try to deter him from destroying things or from pulling Rhiannon's hair. He loves to wander when we go to the park and I usually spend the better part of an hour chasing/herding him. He could care less if he ever saw us again. I think he looks at it as an opportunity to escape from this crazy family. He is almost weaned from the pacifier. He only gets it a bedtime maybe 3 nights a week.

Jim is doing well in block 4 of his training. He has another test this week so he is pretty busy studying all the time. The countdown is on for call sign night when we get our assignment. We can hardly wait for March 7. That's about it from here for now. Keep you posted!
