Tossa de Mar, Espana

Last weekend I went on a girls' trip with my friend Nicole and her cousin Elizabeth to Spain. We stayed in beautiful Tossa de Mar about an hour northeast of Barcelona. Not much for words on this trip...lots of pretty sights and topless sunbathing (not so pretty) and delicious Sangria. It is a country I have always wanted to visit and I will definitely go back. I loved it!

Endings and Beginnings...

My amazingly smart daughter has finished out first grade with a beginning third grade reading level! We are so proud of her and I will never regret the decision to put her in school early. This week the class hosted an Author's Tea where we got to go in and sit with our child and read over many of the projects they have done throughout the year. I noticed a major improvement in Rhiannon's writing over the course of the year. The same day the first graders put on a vocabulary parade. Each student chose a word, defined the word on a poster and dressed as the word. Rhi chose bones and we took apart our Halloween skeleton and attached various bones to her clothes.
Her friends were Jenny dressed as teeth, Madison dressed as dapper, Dakota dressed as a tornado and Justin dressed as a pyramid. They all looked so creative and did a fantastic job. I will miss the first grade and her very patient and hard working teacher Mrs. Herndon. The year has gone by too fast.

One of the reasons I love Europe...condensed mattresses!

Cut the ties and poof, insta mattress. This super easy packaging method fit nicely into my car and it wasn't awkward for me to carry it. And yes it is a real mattress. So anyway...on to the beginnings...Rhi is now the proud owner of a full size bed. Brad is now the owner of Rhi's former twin bed. My kiddos are growing up fast and I have to say some things are changing for the better. Goodbye crib forever!

 My Treasures
So spur of the moment I went to Poland this weekend with my friend Sara. We've been wanting to do the Polish Pottery shopping trip for awhile now and since our husbands are gone and we got a four day weekend, off we went. I realize most of the pictures are of the kids, well...the girls actually. Seems I neglected to take pictures of pottery, Poland and the boys. Oops! I did manage to get all new dinner plates, bowls and dessert plates along with a few tea pots. Next time I will take orders from those at home if you like what you see.

The pictures are from the town Boleslawiec, where we stayed at the Blue Beetroot. It was a beautiful Inn and the owners let the girls ride their donkey. Of course it made their day!

When we got back we went to our friends' going away party. Lots of people leaving this summer and the kids will miss their friends dearly as will we. I didn't get everyone but know that we will miss you Winners and Albees (two of the first families we met when we got here and who have been wonderful friends to us) and hope that we will meet again someday!
